The raclette is a dish which is indigenous to parts in Switzerland, mentioned in medieval texts dating as far back as 1291. Thankfully, the tradition has not died down, and technology has allowed us all to experience the Swiss way of eating.
A modern way of serving the raclette involves an electric table-top smokeless grill which is heated via the elements below. As the plate becomes hot, it cooks food on the plate or griddle. These days the raclette is placed in the middle of the table for all to share.
